Matthew’s Story
Matthew joined the Getting Ahead program while rebuilding his life after incarceration. Through the support of the group and facilitator, he found confidence and a strong support system. SELF helped Matthew secure employment, leading to two jobs, and eventually, he found an apartment after a lengthy search. He credits SELF for teaching him new skills, helping him regain stability, and providing connections that made this new chapter possible.
Getting Ahead opened my head up to a lot of circumstances and things that go on in the world that I just hadn’t given a lot of thought to before. So now when I’m engaging in the world and trying to think of my future, I keep those things in mind.
