Getting people in a position to achieve their goals in life has been very important to me as an instructor.

Jilson is Senior Vice President of Economic Equity at The Port of Greater Cincinnati Development Authority, He is a business and economic development professional with a background in finance and accounting. As the Senior Vice President of Economic Equity for The Port, Jilson manages the economic equity strategy for real estate services.

Jan Davis joined SELF as the Jobs Now Facilitator in December of 2023. She joins us after many years as an HR professional, specializing in non and not for profit agencies. As a native of Hamilton, having a chance to offer her experience from the recruitment process aids in her credibility with those in the Employment Success Program. Jan also taught English at Cincinnati State and Hamilton City Schools at the beginning of her career. A love of dogs, humor, faith, and coffee (not necessarily in that order) motivates her in everything she does. 

My name is Darren Mabrey. I am Getting Ahead facilitator for SELF. I love to facilitate the Getting Ahead class because I grew up in Poverty, and this is one way I can give back. I like sharing my experiences while in poverty, to show individuals that poverty does not have to be a lifelong situation.

I teach others through Group Facilitation, creating a safe space to learn and grow together as individuals and as a group, building lasting connections and creating positive change in the lives of those I serve.

Annette manages SELF’s Employment Success Program team at Ohio Means Jobs as well as the JOBS NOW! community-based program. Under Annette’s supervision SELF is the lead-agency of Soaring to Success, an Employer Resource Network serving Montgomery and Butler County employers.

Before joining the SELF team as our HEAP Coordinator, Nicci worked with the HEAP department at Warren County Community Services for 15 years.

Bob Didion grew up in Indiana where he went to college and earned a degree in Business Management and Human Resources. He has always had a passion for construction. 

Sarah Starr joined SELF as the Community Events Coordinator/Executive Assistant in November of 2021. She is responsible for planning internal and external events, organizing SELF’s Adopt-a-Family program, and supporting program staff.

In this Senior Leadership role, Carie versees communications, including grant writing, press releases, media relations, graphic design, website content, and social media accounts. In September 2024, she redesigned and launched this website with a free WordPress account.
