Amy’s Story
Amy wants to encourage older adults to participate in SELF Skill Development programs. SELF helped her realize that you are never too old to achieve financial goals. With practical tools, coaching, and her own persistence, she is moving forward toward a brighter future.
With advice from SELF, Amy paid off two old credit card bills and lifted her credit score. She qualified for her first unsecured credit card and made a smart choice to save it for only emergencies, such as car repairs that would affect her ability to get to work. That is one good habit to protect her financial future.
When skills become habits, options multiply. Amy is practicing tools that add up over time. She makes pro and con lists. She separates wants from needs. She writes down clear goals and sticks with them. With her bills current and a safety net in place, she has amazing momentum.
Stability has opened the door for asset building. Amy opened an Individual Development Account with financial matching from SELF. She is saving for a down payment on her first home. What used to feel out of reach is now a concrete plan with steps she will follow.
Along the way, Amy’s confidence has grown right alongside her credit score. She knows how to plan, how to choose, and how to keep going. This is the heart of the SELF Skill Development Program: practical tools and consistent practice leading to accomplished goals.
Amy’s journey shows how determination and support work together to change a life. If you are sitting on a “someday” goal, SELF can help you take the first step. Contact Us to learn more about the free Skill Development programs.
