Build-Up Academy is SELF’s construction training and employment program!
Build-Up Academy is a free construction skills and job training program offered to income-eligible adults and teens in Butler County, OH.
This workshop features powerful job training elements and includes an OSHA 10 credential, a nationally recognized construction accreditation. There are also opportunities to network with local employers or apply for construction apprenticeships upon graduation. Build-Up Academy includes financial incentives, employment and life skills training, emergency supports, and a starter took kit upon graduation. The class meets Mondays through Thursdays for 2.5 hours per day, for two consecutive weeks (8 days total).
In early 2020, SELF began working with local schools and institutions, including Marshall High School, to bring hands-on construction training to teenage students. This opportunity is available to other local construction education programs as well.
Do you know a Butler County resident who could benefit from this program? We are recruiting qualified, motivated candidates who would like to work in the construction field. The program will include 20 hours of classroom training.
Income eligibility for enrollment in this program is up to 125% of the Federal Poverty Level. All candidates must have their high school diploma, GED or be enrolled in a GED program. Participants must also have access to reliable transportation to the classes, but will be given gift card incentives or stipends to offset the cost of transportation.
