What Makes Self Different?

SELF is a forerunner in the hand-up to self-sufficiency philosophy:

  • SELF was founded in 1995 before Federal Welfare reform changes and other non-profit agencies emphasized self-sufficiency.  SELF is the community action agency for Butler County.

We have a proven track record:

  • Our clients have called SELF a bridge to self-sufficiency and an anchor in a storm. Every year we are proud to have countless success stories.

 It takes a village:

  • SELF takes a collaborative (not competitive) approach, working hand-in-hand with other agency partners like United Way, churches, government offices, universities, trade schools, utilities companies, businesses and more…

 We are flexible:

  • We listen to our clients; we talk to people on a daily basis, as well as keeping our pulse on the current social culture.  We make changes to our programs accordingly.

Each individual and family is uniquely important:

  • Every person or family is unique with their own situation, goals and needs. We strive to work one-on-one to help them achieve their path to self-sufficiency.
We need your help to continue to make a difference … help our clients build better futures for themselves and their families.
