2021 Summer Crisis
SELF’s 2021 Summer Crisis Program operates July 1 – September 30. Beat the heat this summer with this important program.
This utility assistance program assists income-eligible Butler County residents with staying cool in the summer. It provides residents at or below 175% of the Federal Poverty Line with assistance paying an electric bill, or assistance paying for central air conditioning repairs.
The Summer Crisis Program assists low-income households with an older household member (60 years or older), households which can provide physician documentation that cooling assistance is needed for a household member’s health, have been diagnosed with COVID-19, have a disconnect notice, have been shut off, are trying to establish new service on their electric bill, or require air conditioning. Qualifying health conditions may include lung disease, COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), asthma, or more.
To apply for Summer Crisis, regular HEAP, or PIPP Plus, clients must schedule an appointment with SELF. SELF is not accepting walk-ins at this time. Appointments may be scheduled by visiting self.itfrontdesk.com or by calling 513-868-9300, Option 1 for Utility Assistance. From there you can make an appointment or leave a message if you have a question.

Clients must provide copies of the following documents prior to their 2021 Summer Crisis appointment:
- A copy of your most recent energy bill;
- A list of all household members and proof of income for the last 30 days or 12 months for each member;
- Proof of US Citizenship or legal residency for all household members;
- Photo ID
- Social Security Cards
- Proof of disability (if applicable);
- Physician documentation that cooling assistance is needed for a household member’s health (if there isn’t a household member over the age of 60).
