Beth Race, Director of Programming
Beth Race joined the SELF team in 2012 as the the Community Relations Director where she was responsible for all media relations and publicity regarding SELF’s programs. She served as the chief grant writer, special events planner and enjoyed facilitating agency awareness throughout the community. In 2015 Beth was promoted to the Director of Programming, where she oversees all the self-sufficiency programming. She has a passion for giving SELF’s hardworking families a hand-up, so they can escape poverty permanently.
Beth has been an active community volunteer in Butler County for the past 10 years. She helped re-launch the Butler County Bridges Out of Poverty Coalition. She served on the Community Advisory Board at Mercy St. Raphael, where she coordinated many projects including: holiday programs, special events fundraising, and public relations. Beth chairs the Capital Campaign Leadership Committee at St. Julie Billiart in Hamilton, OH that has raised over $500,000 to preserve its historic stained-glass windows and Fenmont Center.
Early in her career, Beth worked for the Second Congressional District of Ohio as a scheduler and special projects coordinator for Congressman Rob Portman and then for Congresswoman Jean Schmidt.
Beth holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Communication from Ohio University with a Political Communication Certificate from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism. She earned a certificate in Nonprofit Board Leadership from Miami University’s Corporate & Community Institute and the Butler County United Way in November 2012.
